Foster Continues Portland  Domination with Pole

PORTLAND, Ore. (Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024) – The beat goes on for Louis Foster – quickly, as usual.

Foster continued his march toward the INDY NXT by Firestone championship Saturday by winning the pole for the Grand Prix of Portland with a top time of 1 minute, 2.1396 seconds in the No. 26 Copart/Novara Technologies car fielded by Andretti Global. Foster broke the track record he set by winning the pole last year with the quickest trip around the 12-turn, 1.964-mile road course in three sessions this weekend – all led by Foster.

McNeilly Completes USF Juniors  Weekend Sweep in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – Liam McNeilly fell a little short of his ultimate goal of winning the USF Juniors Presented by Continental Tire championship title, but the Englishman capped an impressive first season of competition in North America this afternoon by completing a sweep of the Continental Tire Grand Prix of Portland tripleheader season finale. McNeilly, from Brentwood, England, tracked down and overtook Jay Howard Driver Development teammate G3 Argyros, from Newport Beach, Calif., then held off a late challenge from VRD Racing’s Sebastian Wheldon to secure his fifth win of the season.

Wheldon took the checkered flag in second for his season-leading ninth podium finish as Argyros rounded out the top three.

Ferrucci Puts Foyt Team on Pole for First Time Since 2014

PORTLAND, Ore. (Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024) – The ascension of AJ Foyt Racing this season hit its highest point Saturday, as Santino Ferrucci delivered the fabled team its first NTT INDYCAR SERIES pole since 2014 by earning the NTT P1 Award for the BITNILE.COM Grand Prix of Portland.

Ferrucci earned his first career series pole in his first-ever appearance in the Firestone Fast Six, turning a top lap of 58.2046 seconds in the No. 14 Phoenix Investors Chevrolet owned by legendary four-time Indianapolis 500 winner A.J. Foyt. It was the quickest lap overall so far this weekend in three sessions on the 12-turn, 1.964-mile road course at Portland International Raceway.

Johnson Wins in the Damp as  Hughes Clinches the USF Pro 2000 Title

PORTLAND, Ore. – Nikita Johnson, from Gulfport, Fla., scored a fine victory for VRD Racing in this evening’s first leg of the Continental Tire Grand Prix of Portland doubleheader season finale. Some distance behind, a measured drive to sixth position was enough for Turn 3 Motorsport rookie Lochie Hughes to secure the USF Pro 2000 Presented by Continental Tire championship.

Hughes, from the Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia also claimed a scholarship valued at $681,500 to advance to INDY NXT, the final stepping stone to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, in 2025.

Favorites and Sleepers: BITNILE.COM Grand Prix of Portland

The final road course event of the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season lands this weekend at Portland International Raceway. Chip Ganassi Racing driver Alex Palou has won two of the last three BITNILE.COM Grand Prix of Portland events with Scott McLaughlin scoring the 2022 victory for Team Penske at PIR.

In addition, Team Penske and Chip Ganassi Racing have combined to win four of the five natural road course events this season. Pato O’Ward of Arrow McLaren is the only exception, victorious July 7 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Can anyone emerge as contenders to top these teams in Sunday’s 110-lap race (3 p.m. ET, USA Network, Peacock, INDYCAR Radio Network)?

Series Leader Foster Dominates Opening Practice at Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (Friday, Aug. 23, 2024) – Louis Foster is so close to the INDY NXT by Firestone championship trophy he can almost touch it, but the opening practice for the Grand Prix of Portland on Friday proved he’s not strolling in the stretch run of races.

PORTLAND, Ore. (Aug. 21, 2024) – Alex Palou is chasing history and another NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship as the series heads to Portland International Raceway (PIR) this weekend, Aug. 23-25, for the BITNILE.COM Grand Prix of Portland. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver aims to win at PIR for second consecutive year and become the third ever three-time Portland INDYCAR winner, joining Al Unser Jr. and Michael Andretti, at the 30th running of the event on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. PT.

Three USF Pro Championships Titles  to be Settled at Portland Finale

PALMETTO, Fla. – The 2024 USF Pro Championships Presented by Continental Tire season will culminate this weekend with the Continental Tire Grand Prix of Portland. The 1.964-mile, 12-turn Portland International Raceway road course will play host to the final rounds for all three series – USF Juniors, USF2000 and USF Pro 2000.

Over $1.6 million remains up for grabs as, uniquely in the world of motorsports, the highly acclaimed open-wheel driver development ladder will award scholarships to enable each champion to move on to the next level in their ultimate quest for a career in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.
